Jakob Lovstad is a great friend of mine and a big influence on my thinking over the past few years. It’s for that reason that I’m very excited about this week’s Hardcore MBA, because Jakob has agreed to take the time to talk to us all about his interesting past (how many of us can say they’ve been a software engineer and an MMA fighter?), and about the thorough and important coaching work he currently does. Jakob’s coaching helped me to formulate many of the idea’s in my Amazon #1 book Never Work Again, so I really can’t recommend listening to this podcast enough.
In this week’s talk, Jakob and I discuss:
- The importance of opening yourself up to the magic of the world that surrounds us, and grasping every opportunity as it comes.
- The four ‘arts’ that are covered by Jakob’s six-month Insight Consulting course.
- And what it means to embrace the concept of ‘mastery’ in the modern world.
Jakob tells me, “people feel like they have no freedom in life because they can’t be sure where their decisions will lead them, and what the consequences will be. To have mastery in this life, we need to deal with two things then – firstly, what has happened to us in the past, but also what will happen to us in the future as a consequence of our choices in the present. And to do that means to come to the point where we no longer even see problems as problems – the obstacles in our way are still there, but they barely even show up on our radar because we know we can overcome them.”
Guys, I cannot emphasize enough that you really need to listen to this man if you’re going to make a success of yourselves. He has a special kind of wisdom that we don’t often get the chance to encounter, so be sure to make the most of it while it’s available. Jakob regularly adds his thoughts to his personal blog, and the course that we discuss throughout this episode of Hardcore MBA can be found at Insight Consulting. So, take a look, consider how to improve your own life through Jakob’s ideas, and until next time – keep walking the path!
