bishopstewartWanting to find out a little bit more about how other entrepreneurs use dropshipping to build their own freedom, I got in touch with a good friend of mine, Bishop Stewart. It turns out, his method of dropshipping is even simpler than the one I use. “When I started out, I was trying all sorts of different approaches to making money online,” Bishop told me over the phone from Los Angeles. “but none of them were really working for me. They all required too much overhead, too many fixed costs, which I was trying to avoid. And then one day a friend of mine introduced me to the idea of dropshipping and put me in touch with another of his friends who had made millions of dollars doing it. From that point on, the simplicity of it had me hooked, really.”

Any final tips for someone thinking about starting out in dropshipping? “Sure – avoid electronics, iPhones, and ‘as seen on tv’ products, because those companies get scared that you’re sending out cheap knock-offs, and they’ll write to you asking you to take the listings down. Make sure you specify that you don’t ship internationally, or to any of the places that Amazon won’t deliver to – Hawaii, Alaska, PO Boxes, military addresses, and so on. And apart from that, just focus on your keywords and on getting inside the mind of your customers and what they are searching for – for instance, ‘chair’ is too generic, you need to use words like ‘ottoman’, ‘upholstered’, ‘accent’, words that people are searching for to find the specific chair they want.”
